The Whole Thing and All the Parts

When you hire an employee, you're not just entering a transaction. You're also agreeing to deal with the consequences of everything this person produces and the effect they have on your team (good or bad).
When you bring a child into the world, you're signing up for hugs and giggles, but also temper tantrums, soiled diapers, and responsibility for the well-being of the child.
We are powerful and meaningful, every one of us, through the choices we make, the commitments we enter, and our willingness to keep them. The challenge is recognizing and accepting just how far that power extends.
