"It Doesn't Matter"

This phrase gets used to justify all sorts of things.
- It doesn’t matter if I tell the whole truth
- It doesn’t matter if I get there on time
- It doesn’t matter if I speak up or not
- It doesn’t matter if we accomplish our goal
Maybe it doesn’t matter. Maybe the effort and bravery it takes to complete the thing will turn out to be for naught, and you’ll have “wasted” a few units of courage or energy.
The greater likelihood is that it DOES matter, it matters deeply, perhaps in ways that are hard to see right now. And the reward from doing what’s required to follow through with your original intent will become apparent only down the line.
