What You Make Of It

It isn't a hassle, either.
That is, unless you make it be that way.
We often talk about things as if the thing determines our experience.
- Marriage is a prison.
- Work is such a grind.
- That restaurant is amazing.
No. A person makes it be that way, by the perspective they bring and the way they engage with it.
Insert two simple words (for me...), and you can remind yourself that you create the experience you have.
- For me, marriage is an extraordinary gift.
- For me, work is a place to face my fears.
- For me, that restaurant is where I explore new flavors.
It's not that the circumstances don't matter. Every situation brings different stimuli, and some environments present tough challenges while others are easier to embrace.
But if you have the option to make any situation be one where you feel alive, why would you choose the alternative?
